Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience to oversee the management, security, and performance of databases. This role demands both technical expertise and administrative aptitude to handle large-scale databases effectively and ensure their stability, reliability, and security.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a solid grasp of data manipulation languages. Your role will involve monitoring database performance, troubleshooting issues, implementing enhancements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze system performance, identifying potential problems and areas for improvement.
- Respond promptly to user-reported errors and database-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Protect databases against unauthorized access, cyber threats, and data breaches by implementing robust security measures.
- Ensure databases are backed up regularly and that data recovery procedures are in place for disaster recovery scenarios.
- Prepare and present reports on database usage metrics, performance, and optimization efforts.
- Suggest and implement improvements to database architecture, maintenance, and protection.
- Collaborate with IT project managers, database programmers, and other stakeholders to meet project goals.
- Design and maintain databases that cater to both front-end and back-end user requirements.
- Keep abreast of trends and advancements in database technologies and integrate relevant innovations into practice.
Requirements
- Proven work experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role, with at least 7 years of hands-on experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Advanced certifications such as MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator), MCSD for .NET, or equivalent are highly advantageous.
- Expertise in data manipulation languages, including MS SQL, Oracle Database, Hadoop, or PostgreSQL.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple responsibilities under pressure.
- In-depth knowledge of database security, backup and recovery strategies, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in database administration.
